For all sorts of good reasons, our ultimate goal is help make our social worlds better. Our particular contribution involves bringing the insights from a distinctive theoretical perspective, the theory of the Coordinated Management of Meaning (CMM). By taking what this theory calls "the communication perspective," we foreground the quality and patterns of communication and, in this way, gain certain insights and biases that we believe have some value in the public discourse about important issue. The analyses, opinions and observations in this section are contributions to that discourse. The research reports and papers continuing the development of CMM are invitations to explore this theory of communication and its implications.
